What is Microsis?

Microsis is an electronics and software company based in Pendik, Istanbul. It manufactures electricity meters, modems and the OSOS automatic meter reading system, and develops the Microsis mobile app and Microsis Kiosk software. It also sources other meter brands when a project needs them.

How does remote meter reading work?

The meter measures consumption, the Microsis modem, connected to the meter over RS-485, sends the data to the centre over GPRS or Ethernet, and OSOS collects it. The organisation reports and bills from that data; on prepaid systems, subscribers top up credit in the mobile app or at a kiosk. No crew has to go on site for a reading.

When should a project use prepaid meters and when communicating meters?

Prepaid meters suit places with collection problems: subscribers pay first, so no debt builds up. Communicating meters suit places with billing problems or hard-to-read meters: OSOS reads the meter remotely and bills follow actual consumption. Prepaid communicating meters combine both. Shopping centres, housing projects, residential complexes and industrial sites can use these meters together with OSOS.
